The Mont Blanc Watchmaking Division

The Mont Blanc Company has been making a variety of luxury items since the company’s inception in 1906. The company was created when three men gathered for a meeting in Germany to explore the possibilities of a joint venture. This was Claus-Johannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias and August Eberstein at the meeting and they formed the Simplo Filler Pen Company. Their first shop was in Hamburg, Germany.

The year 1997 saw this now luxury brand manufacture branch into horological field of creating timepieces after the Richemont Investment Group took over the company. The first luxury watch presented to the world with the brand Mont Blanc was the Montblanc Montre SA.

They decided to set up the best and most experienced watchmaking shop and hire the best engineers so they acquired the Minerva watch manufacturer in Villeret in 2007. By 2008 the Le Locle shop was creating original movements and Mont Blanc moved up into being another of the big Swiss watchmakers of the world.

Today’s collections include Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec, Montblanc Timewalker, Montblanc Collection Villeret 1858, Montblanc Princess Grace de Monaco and the Montblanc Star.
